Let's start this movie review with a question.

Have you tried to trek and climb alone? Are you lost on the trail, encountered a  life and death dilemma and no ones there to help you? Are you the type of guy that never left a note or let your love ones know where you going? Do you buy cheap utility tools?

Well, all of these questions are about to get answers if you will watch or had seen the movie 127 Hours. This is a very inspiring and a triumphant true to life story of Aron Lee Ralston a American mountain climber that got famous during the 2003 because of his survival story and bravery of amputating his right arm using a cheap multi-tool when  he accidentally fall himself down together with a boulder that crashed his forearm and pin his arm on the canyon wall while canyoneering by all himself. He documented his autobiography by writing a book "Between a Rock and a Hard Place".

As a mountaineer I can relate to this movie as I am very cautious and very careful when climbing a mountain just like the movie I love the outdoors but never trek alone as I like to climb the summit with friends. I watched the movie alone without any idea, without watching any trailer and what the story are.

I am wondering why it was titled 127 hours, it was exciting at first as I see the beauty of the Grand Canyon, how I wish I can climb the Canyon too, until it came to the part of the movie where Aron Ralston (portrayed by James Blanco) slipped and falls down deep in one of the canyon by accident and pinned his arm to the rock's wall where his time of survival starts. I like the way the movie use the flash back effect to emphasize the emotional state of the character, flashing back to his broken relationship with his girlfriend, having last words with his work mate thinking they would realize that he is missing by seeing a photocopy of the map would give them the clue where he is located, and the last time he was able to talk to his sister and mother. It just gives a value and importance of telling your loved ones when you are going outdoor or out of town alone.

The transition of the events are also breathtaking from day 1 to day 5. There is  vital role and importance of water in the lead's survival, that includes conserving his pee then later on drink it. Oh, by the way, I am not the kind of person who throws up easily because I am high tolerance when it comes to yuck thing guess what I puked many times.  That was normal I guess. I love the part where in he filmed himself, he acted as a court side announcer, the athlete and all. The video that he taken serves as his documentation of what he did to survive I guess.

The movie showed also the possible scenarios that might help him escape from the boulder, there this heavy rain that flooded the whole place that released him, he wished that there were men to rescue him among others. The moral lesson about the movie is that never trek alone, if you do let others know where you are going. They mentioned also the disadvantages of buying a cheap multi-tools from China as he left his Swiss Army knife on his closet. After watching this movie I think more than twice if I am still going to do my outdoor activity, well a heart of a mountaineer is in the mountains so there is no second wind for me. I love to explore the mountains and I love my club so there's no backing out, I ready to get lost again.

L.O.S.T Team let's conquer the mountains together and be bonded. Leave No Trace folks.
